Community Care Executive
How can I help you?

My main role is to support you and the lawyers in our team in relation to Community Care and Welfare Court of Protection matters.  I am your first contact and I will speak to you to discuss your problems and help you through some complex legal issues and processes.  Community Care covers many legal issues, such as challenging Care Act Assessments for both you and your carer, financial charges made against you for care or where you require adaptations.  In relation to Court of Protection matters, I will listen to you and ensure that your wishes and feelings are considered and the Court are aware it.  I will help you to obtain Legal Aid, if you qualify financially and meet the merits criteria.  If you do not, then I will discuss with you what options are available to you.

The department also helps Carer’s who are members of Shared Lives Plus throughout the UK.  I manage the advice line for shared lives carers and I am also the first contact for all carers who face safeguarding allegations.  I will help you with some basic advice and if there are merits in pursuing an appeal to a Panel, then I will help you complete your claim form, for funding from your insurer.

A little about me

For me, ensuring that individuals have access to the care and support they are entitled too is at the core of what I do and love.  I am very passionate about making sure that those who struggle to express their opinion are heard. I enjoy helping clients to achieve this and making a positive difference by securing successful outcomes.  I am very empathetic and I listen very carefully, to everything that you say.

My experience

After graduating from university, having achieved First Class Honours in Psychology, I joined the firm in 2010 as a paralegal working in the housing team. I gained valuable experience in supporting the lawyers and running my own caseload, in helping tenants with their housing disrepair claims and representing tenants at hearings for rent arrears.  I also attended court to support both clients and barristers on a number of complex cases involving anti-social behaviour and those who suffered from mental health conditions.  I took up a role with the Community Care team in October 2016, where I have been able to really help those who are vulnerable and became a Community Care Executive within the team in 2021.
